Does it take two to tango? Importance of coaggregation in multispecies biofilms.
The interaction between microorganisms in a biofilm is a complex process
involving many factors, as Alexander Rickard and colleagues explain.A well-choreographed tango requires more than simple proximity. Venue, mood, partner, and the presence of other dancers all influence the performance.
If even one of these components is missing or altered, the dance can come to an end or become disjointed. Such orchestrated interactions are not just the preserve of human society; a type of dance arguably occurs in bacterial biofilm communities.
