Expertise in healthcare IT recognised

Beckman Coulter has appointed Ed Harris as its new product manager for IT in Northern Europe. As a product expert with a passion for healthcare and a vision of the benefits that IT can bring to patient outcomes through enhanced efficiencies, Ed is responsible for overseeing Beckman Coulter’s clinical information systems portfolio. He will also drive the company’s IT strategy and product innovation in order to advance healthcare for all stakeholders. In particular, he will ensure the effective support of clinical laboratory managers in their drive for efficiency and quality.

Ed Harris brings expertise in healthcare IT built from working for Sunquest Information Systems, where he was the product manager for Sunquest ICE for four years. During this time, he helped to deliver Sunquest product updates and mobile strategy. Prior to this he was a project manager for bespoke eLearning development. This experience has given Ed a deep understanding of the cost pressures and productivity demands faced by laboratory managers, and how informatics can be used to empower them and deliver on clinical service excellence.

Commenting on his new role, Ed Harris said: “Early and accurate diagnosis is the basis of modern healthcare, which can improve people’s lives. Laboratory medicine contributes to 70% of those diagnostic decisions. I am excited about joining such a leading business in laboratory diagnostics and driving the IT strategy to fulfil our vision of advancing healthcare for every person.”

Beckman Coulter’s clinical information management system portfolio includes the Remisol Advance enterprise data management system, the Three60 Inventory Management system and the Pro-Service remote instrument performance monitoring application.
