Infectious disease training available in Europe

The National Institute of Infectious Diseases in Rome, the main beneficiary of a European Commission project entitled European Training in Infectious Disease Emergencies (ETIDE), has invited interest in its training courses from specialists in the field.

The project’s aim is to enhance European capacity to recognise and respond effectively and in a coordinated fashion to infectious disease emergencies, whether they be natural, accidental or deliberate. This will be through development of a common curriculum (using ETIDE partners from six European countries who are experts in infectious diseases, infection control, microbiology, risk communication, psychology, and education and training) for frontline health professionals (emergency care clinicians, nurses, paramedics and biomedical scientists).

This course will be used to train the first group of trainers from EU member states, candidate countries and EEA/EFTA countries, giving them the knowledge base and skills needed to train and assess the competence of frontline health professionals in their own countries, using the materials developed by the ETIDE partners.
