Prion protein

Research has shown that prion protein, a form of protein that triggers bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), is associated with other brain diseases in cattle.

Published in the open-access journal BMC Veterinary Research, a study has shown that changes in the production and accumulation of prion protein occurs in the brains of cattle with the rare neurodegenerative disorder idiopathic brainstem neuronal chromatolysis and hippocampal sclerosis (IBNC).
