The Institute of Mechanical Engineers has recognised Randox Laboratories with an award for product innovation at the Manufacturing Excellence Awards held in June in London, attended by Dr Peter FitzGerald (managing director), Gareth Wilson (engineering project leader) and Ivan McConnell (R&D manager).
The Manufacturing Excellence Awards are an annual event that recognises the very best in the UK manufacturing industry and rewards manufacturing success. Entries come from a wide range of UK companies, all of which undergo a rigorous assessment process. The Product Innovation category “seeks to understand how new products are designed, released to manufacture and assesses the commercial success of new products released in the last three years”.
This is the second award for innovation Randox has received in 2009, after winning the Invest NI’s ‘Innovator of the Year’. As a clinical diagnostic company, innovation is essential in order to develop and produce solutions that will revolutionise healthcare worldwide. Randox re-invests 28% of annual revenue into research and development and a quarter of its employees are engaged strictly in R&D.
