Dictation solution in Wolverhampton

Following a successful pilot, SRC, a provider of digital dictation and voice recognition solutions to NHS trusts, has rolled out its digital dictation solution to 500 users at Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals. The solution, based on the WinScribe digital dictation technology, is central to the trust's aim to distribute all patient correspondence within 24 hours and deploy integrated digital systems to optimise the patient care referral to treatment pathway.

Before deciding to deploy the solution trust-wide, the SRC solution was piloted in the diabetes department. A significant result from the pilot was the reduction in document turnaround times from 51 hours to 29.5 hours. The solution's special workflow capability was the key to achieving the time savings.

As well as deploying the WinScribe dictation system, SRC provides project management, training, hardware (Philips desktop and portable recording devices) and ongoing support. Chris Hart, SRC chief executive officer, said: "Royal Wolverhampton is a glowing example of how trusts can achieve a rapid return on investment and adapt their document creation practices to support the delivery of high-quality patient care. We look forward to developing our relationship with Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals and continuing to help them drive performance and efficiencies."
