Light-emitting diode light source for fluorescence microscopy

Independent microscopy specialist Micropix has announced the latest addition to its product range, the EcoLED. The EcoLED is a single-channel light-emitting diode (LED) light source for fluorescence illumination that complements the company’s existing dual and four-channel LED fluorescence products.

Light-emitting diodes have many advantages over traditional fluorescence light sources. The EcoLED can be supplied in a range of excitation wavelengths and can be fitted to any existing or new fluorescence microscope. It has been designed primarily as a cost-effective, efficient and safe replacement for a mercury burner.

The EcoLED is a welcome addition to the Micropix microscopy product range that includes complete microscope systems, digital microscope cameras, capture and analysis software and LED fluorescence illumination.
