HORIBA has announced the launch of Yumivet, its new veterinary diagnostics brand, alongside the introduction of a dedicated solution, the Yumivet VH2500 haematology analyser offering fast, reliable diagnostics across many animal species.
Yumivet’s launch marks a strategic expansion into the veterinary sector for HORIBA. With over 40 years of recognised experience in in vitro diagnostics, HORIBA brings reference-level analytical performance into veterinary settings, helping veterinarians deliver accurate diagnoses quickly and confidently. HORIBA has been working closely with the veterinary industry for several years, and this launch represents a sharper focus on the animal health market.
Veterinary practices today face increasing pressure to provide accurate, rapid results while managing growing workloads and diverse patient needs. The Yumivet brand has been developed in direct response to these challenges, offering advanced and proven analytical technology that is simple to operate, consistently reliable, and readily adaptable across species.
At the heart of the new brand, the Yumivet VH2500 delivers high-performance haematology analysis with optimised multispecies capabilities. Supporting multiple animal species across veterinary care, including cats, dogs, horses, and more, the new analyser provides detailed and consistent clinical insight through an extensive set of 57 parameters, including Complete Blood Count (CBC) with a nine-part differential, reticulocyte analysis, and dual platelet measurement methods.
Designed with workflow efficiency in mind, the Yumivet VH2500 enables open tube or continuous sample loading and delivers results in approximately 30 seconds per test, supporting teams working in high-volume settings and rapid clinical decision making in busy environments. Its intuitive touchscreen interface, simplified reagent system, and automated quality control features minimise training requirements and reduce operational complexity for users. Pre-configured species profiles, including advanced cell differentiation and reticulocyte counts, along with automatic selection or easy switching between species, further simplify operation.
The system also offers complete flexibility to adapt to a wide range of clinical and laboratory environments. With multiple customisable specialist species profiles, scalable and versatile configurations, and compatibility with automated solutions such as a slide maker and stainer (Yumivet SPS), a track system (Yumizen T6000) and middleware (Yumizen P8000), the Yumivet VH2500 is designed to grow alongside veterinary practices and laboratory networks. Offering seamless connection to laboratory and practice management systems (LIS/PMS), it enables laboratories to achieve a high automatic validation rate through an expert rules engine and patient record integration across multiple sites as required.
“Veterinary professionals are working in increasingly demanding environments, where speed, accuracy, ease-of-use and reliability in diagnostics are essential to ensure the best possible animal care,” said Pascal Berthet, International Product Manager, HORIBA. “With Yumivet, we are bringing together decades of expertise in clinical diagnostics with a deep understanding of veterinary workflows across all settings. The Yumivet VH2500 has been carefully developed to deliver dependable, high-quality results that veterinary teams can completely trust and rely on for their clinical decisions, while making their daily operations simpler and more efficient.”
Built on a hybrid analytical platform combining electrical impedance, fluorescence, flow cytometry and spectrophotometry, the Yumivet VH2500 ensures robust and reliable performance across a wide range of sample types, including challenging or low-volume samples.
