Submissions for Lab Innovations’ Lab Awards, which recognise the achievements and successes of individuals, laboratories and suppliers over the past year, remain open until August 14.
The celebration takes place annually and provides an opportunity to highlight the innovation and excellence within the lab sector. With the deadline for entries approaching, submit your nominations here.
Taking place on 4 November at 15:00 in the NEC, Birmingham, Lab Innovations will be presenting 13 awards for achievements across the laboratory sector. The individual awards encompass: Outstanding Achievement, Rising Star, Lab Technician of the Year, sponsored by Scientific Laboratory Supplies, and a brand-new award, the Innovator Award. The Innovator Award celebrates the individual who has consistently pushed boundaries in the lab industry and whose work continues to push the sector forward.
For progressive laboratories, the categories include Laboratory of the Year and Sustainability Best Practice. For suppliers, an array of prizes is due to be awarded, including Supplier Excellence, Sustainability Best Practice, Best Sustainable Innovation, Best Technology Innovation, Best Automation & Data Innovation and Best Consumables Innovation. Two additional awards are also open to all: Commitment to Skills & Training and Best Research Project, the latter celebrating outstanding research that has delivered meaningful impact across the lab and scientific community.
“I think it helps us benchmark what different labs are doing across the industry. It also helps us to be more competitive to go the extra mile,” stated a representative of the AstraZeneca Mount Vernon Quality Control Laboratory, winner of last year’s Laboratory of the Year Award.
While Lab Innovations is continuing with last year’s theme of collaboration, this year’s event is also built around five cross-industry pillars - Sustainability, AI & automation, Applied Innovation, Quality & Compliance and Skills & Development - to further encourage peer exchange between members of the lab and scientific community.
“We innovate together. We collaborate together since we are together on this journey. Winning this award is a great honour,” stated Anna Cooper, UK marketing manager at Shimadzu, which won the Supplier Excellence Award in 2025.
After the submission deadline on August 14, a panel of industry experts from across the UK’s laboratory sector will come together to review entries and create a prestigious shortlist, which will be revealed in early September.
“Our Lab Awards are a reminder of just how much talent and ingenuity exist within the industry, and we are so proud to give it the recognition it deserves,” said Adam Gough, portfolio director at Lab Innovations.
