Using the online Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), NHS Trusts across England and Wales can now source and bring into clinical use the iFAST ONE ultra-rapid AST technology direct from iFAST Diagnostics.
Dr Toby King, CEO, iFAST Diagnostics Limited commented: “Since our recent UK approval, demand for the iFAST ONE system is already amazingly strong. Being listed as a direct supplier on NHS Supply Chain Dynamic Purchasing system means the procurement process for our innovative disruptive technology can be shortened to a matter of weeks.”
The iFAST ONE system has the potential not only to significantly improve individual patient outcomes but will save the NHS money through shorter hospital stays and can also contribute to slowing the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). iFAST Diagnostics delivers AST results in under three hours directly from positive blood cultures or isolated bacterial colonies.
NHS Supply Chain defines iFAST’s technology as disruptive - it provides a novel approach to rapid phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) for bacterial infections, by using microfluidics to measure electrical properties of tens of thousands of individual bacteria at high speed after a short incubation period.
In order to be listed as a Supplier of Goods within Medical Technology (MedTech) Innovation DPS NHS Supply Chain, suppliers must meet rigorous baseline criteria to qualify, including carbon reduction, and social value requirements, the Evergreen Assessment, and the Modern Slavery Assessment Tool. Technical prerequisites, and relevant regulatory proofs like MHRA registration are also covered.
The iFAST ONE instrument and associated consumables are now all available through Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) For Medical Technology Innovation, NHS Supply Chain, supplied direct by iFAST Diagnostics Limited.
