Automated H. pylori antigen detection

The LIAISON Helicobacter Antigen assay offers a fully automated solution for the rapid detection in stool samples of H. pylori antigen from this spiral-shaped microorganism that commonly populates the mucus found in the stomach.

Helicobacter pylori infection is associated with peptic ulcer disease and chronic gastritis, and is a risk factor for gastric adenocarcinoma. Diagnosis is therefore important and can be achieved using non-invasive methods such as the detection of H. pylori antigen in faeces.

The LIAISON Helicobacter Antigen assay has shown 100% positive agreement and 98% negative agreement with a commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and therefore offers a simple alternative to the urea breath test for diagnosis and follow-up of infection.
