Registration for the British Society For Microbial Technology’s 41st Annual Microbiology Conference is open now. The event takes place on Thursday 21 May, at North London’s RAF Museum, Hendon.
With the title ‘Microbial Technology in Practice: the Good, the Bad and the Bugly’ this year’s event focusses on practical applications of microbial technology and diagnostics. An exceptional line up of speakers is lined up from different fields of microbiology including those in academia, research and clinical practice. Lead speaker this year is Dr Sarah Pitt, Principal Lecturer, University of Brighton, and President, Institute of Biomedical Science, whose presentation will be titled, ‘Current state and the potential future for diagnostic microbiology’. Dr Kate Templeton, BSMT President and Professor Brian Duerden CBE, will chair the conference.

This year's Annual Microbiology Conference is dedicated to the memory of Jim Lindsay, founding member of the BSMT, who sadly died in June 2025.
An early-bird discount rate of £75 applies to registrations received before 20 April, with a higher rate of £95:00 applying after this date. Full-time student rate is £35. Fee includes morning coffee, light refreshments and lunch.
