The GeneXpert system is a sample-to-answer PCR diagnostic test operating in over 180 countries. It is the first easy-to-use, random-access system developed to enable tests to run ‘on-demand’ instead of in large batches. The instrument is a real-time PCR-based molecular diagnostic testing platform integrating a computer, barcode scanner, and preloaded software. Self-contained, single-use test cartridges perform automated nucleic acid extraction, PCR amplification, and detection of target sequences when loaded onto the instrument.
